New research has shown that a lack of protein in a father’s diet affects sperm quality which can have a direct impact on the long-term health of their offspring.

So now we can blame our parents for any physical misfortune we have endured our adult lives?  My Dad was essentially homeless from the age of 13 when his mother died and until he was 18 when he joined the Navy.  I think the study has merit, but just not sure how much?

My dad's diet was so poor during his childhood that he developed rickets & nearly died. He was so near death at one point that his older siblings were called home from school so they could see him before he died.

But he survived and went on to become a US Marine, and served two tours of the South Pacific during WWII. He was on Iwo Jima and had the war not ended, would have been part of the occupation of Japan. He may have been a sickly child, but he certainly grew into a strong man.

Shanny - My Dad joined the Navy and was stationed in the Phillipines during the war.  Came home and spent the rest of his life working hard for Chrysler Corporation and raising a family.  I miss him dearly each and every day.

My dad was in the Army Band during WWII. Not a dangerous post, but those brave soldiers that were in harms way certainly deserved the relaxing entertainment the Band provided.

Dad was always in radio communications, so wasn't exactly out on the front line either, but there's always a risk, and he came home with a Purple Heart anyhow.

His wartime career contributed to gaining a civil service position as postmaster of our small town post office, and while he'd rather not have been tethered to a desk his whole life, it was a good job with good benefits, so he did what he had to to support his family.
