I’m seeing increasing buzz in my own news feeds over insulin accessibility. I suspect many of us have found ourselves husbanding our insulin supplies with care.

Of course, it doesn’t help for those not managing their diet...

I just read about another really disturbing self caused insulin deprivation. It is called Insulin Anexoria, young teenage girls go off their insulin to lose weight. So scary for their future health. I have a 19 yr old T1 grand daughter and find this very disturbing.

I can see how and why people begin to hoard insulin supplies.  An average vial in the U.S. retails for approximately $350.  Multiply that by two or 3 vials per month and you have a whopping bill that many of us cannot afford.  My insurance will pay only for Humalog now which is not the best choice for me.  My insulin consumption has gone up by 35%.  When I used Novolog for insulin my bg average was 120.  Now when using Humalog my average is 150.  Am I happy?  No, not really but money is the bottom line here.  Big Pharma set the price and the consumer pays for it in more than one way.
