Newbie formerly div2live
« on: March 09, 2016, 06:44:50 PM »
Hi all,
Some of you might know me from another board as div2live...now I am Timewise...That means I got old and stopped scuba diving....

I have been a type 2 diabetic for over 9years now.  In May of 2015 I learned about Low Carb High Fat eating and as of May 1 of 2015 I started following that protocol   At the time my A1c was at 7.3, my weight was 320, my blood pressure was running around 135/95 and my Cholesterol was way above acceptable levels according to my doctor.  to cut a long story short over a period of weeks and with the full support and ongoing advise from many folks on this forum, I got my blood sugar under control by following the Low Carb High Fat model and testing foods I ate to my meter.   Over the next few month an amazing thing happened by July my A1c was down to 5.8k, my Cholesterol was on target, my blood pressure was at 125/85, and I had lost over 35lbs.   SMILE  When I began I was taking 126 unit of Lantus nightly (I think I slushed when I walked) and taking 2000mg of metformin daily.

This week I saw my doctor 1 months after I started this journey and I am down over 45lbs, blood pressure at 110/75, A1c at 6.2, and I feel great.  I have yet to start any exercise, and after the weight loss that is next.....by the way during this time I was able to reduce my Lantus injections to 25u nightly and still taking the metformin, but I hope to be off of Lantus by the end of the year.

you gotta try this.....!

Delighted to see your phosphors, Timewise!  (Sorry about the scuba diving, though.  Aging ... it's not for wimps.)

Hi, I'm waving wildly to old friends!  I just wandered in at the door and am snopping my way thru this new venue and it's great to meet other friends.  Sorry about the scuba but all things must change eventually as we all know...find the new path and enjoy it!
