Sweat based BG monitors that will work for a week are under research and study. Let's hope this comes to the market soon.

Interesting. I wonder what the cost will be? Since my pcp has declared me "cured" I am worried about even getting strips, let alone a new type of meter. If it is going to be affordable for 3rd world countries I wonder if it will be sold over the counter here?

Yes, cost and if it will be covered by insurance but more important, how long before it will be available, It could be several years.  It is really interesting technology and if it works as they hope it could be a real handy item.

The last para answers both these questions. I only hope that they mean it.

"Plans call for the device to be inexpensively mass-produced, so it can be affordable to people in developing nations as well as first world countries. The university is currently seeking a commercial partner, and hopes to have the technology on the market within a year."

Wow. No more finger pricking. Though, to be really honest I dont mind the pin pricks, but a wearable device which doesn't need a reminder is worthwhile. I really hope that "affordable" has a good universal definition. Waiting one year is not hard, I'm game.

The Sweat Monitor is back in the news again. This article says it will be priced between 10-15 cents. Not bad, if true.

Great news. One year and 15 cents is perfect. I am waiting with bated breath.

Wow!  If that price is true it comes out to something like $8 a year at the higher price.  Not sure Big Pharma is going to like that!!  This may be just too good to be true...

This is a good thing. I will also like to own one.
One question, will it work if a person is not sweating, like in very cold places or airports or hotels ?

Yes I think it will. It should require traces of sweat and that I think is always available.
