It all starts in the liver
« on: November 29, 2017, 03:17:29 AM »
Scientists at The University of Geneva have unraveled the advent of T2 Diabetes by deciphering how the protein PTPR-γ, which is increased in the context of obesity, inhibits insulin receptors located at the surface of liver cells

To me it seems quite natural that things should begin in the liver. That is the Home of all metabolism. I was definitely obese once and would have loved to be aware of this earlier. If tests can be developed to trace this protein then probably people could be forewarned.
My life is based on a true story.

I guess that is the idea behind all research.

Interesting that until I started doing research in diabetes I never realized how important the liver was.  It has many functions that are not really understood by most lay persons.
Type 2 since 1993.  Control with Metformin and LCHF diet.  76 YY
