Intestinal coating
« on: June 12, 2018, 07:14:29 PM »
They’re working on a pill which will provide temporary internal coating to the walls of the intestines much like a permanent gastric sleeve. IMHO, a bad idea, but here it is ;

You are right. It doesn't make sense to me as well. What is the point of tinkering with nature and then repaying for it in heaps.
My life is based on a true story.

Sounds a bit like the olestra fiasco of a number of years back that actually went to market and caused fecal incontinence...

I think the push is to make it easier for people with diabetes to eat anything they want without regard to what effect it has.  A very large percentage of diabetics will not change their eating habits regardless of the damage it may be doing.  My SIL is a T-1 since she was a child and has had bypass surgery and she has lost some weight but not a lot.  She has never tried to pay attention to what she eats so maybe for her it is working, at least to some extent.

Sadly Wally, that’s not going to work long term...

I agree John, I think it is a "pie in the sky" thing.  People are always looking for an easy way out.
