Verapamil for T1
« on: July 09, 2018, 07:47:37 PM »
A common blood pressure medication “verapamil” has been found to be an effective novel therapy to reduce insulin requirements and hypoglycemic episodes in adult subjects with recent onset Type 1. There’s also a good video explaining the process.

Very interesting. I’ve forwarded it to my friend in Big Pharma to see if he’s heard anything more.

One option is to cut/paste the link to the study.
The better option (for DP) is to use the "Send This Topic" button on top to send a link to this page.

I don't know how this may affect T-2 diabetics but I have been taking Verapamil for several years.  My cardiologist put me on it for helping with my blood pressure but also because it prevents AFIB.
Type 2 since 1993.  Control with Metformin and LCHF diet.  76 YY

According to my MD friend, Verapamil is among the beta blockers of which there are many. If this actually works, it’d be interesting to know what’s different about it and if it helps T2s.
