Another vote for LC
« on: July 21, 2018, 08:57:05 PM »
Some things are as clear as the day, but the scientific community still refuses to say HF along with LC

There are just 3 macro nutrients in food, Carbs, Proteins & Fats. Everyone agrees that protein needs to be consumed @ 1gm per kg of ideal body weight per day. So that, acts as a fulcrum in the dietary see-saw. If Carbs are reduced the Fats have to go up or where else will the daily energy requirements be fulfilled from. It is implied science But they just won’t say it.

However, here’s the study,

Well, it is good to see LC in a positive light but you are right.  They are afraid of saying high fat because of so many years of demonizing fat as the reason for heart attacks.  I remember reading Atkins book when it first came out and it was low carb and high protein.  I think he favored protein because of the negative attitude towards fat.  The new Atkins book changed that but it was written after Atkins had died.

Isn't it a shame that for so many years erroneous information was preached & promoted? And why did nobody bother to determine the truth? Because there was money to be made? No doubt . . .

Natural saturated & unsaturated fat is one of the safest foods we can eat, while all the carbs are killing us.

Well, that was probably part of it and continues to be part of it but the main reason was that the government got into it and politicians made the decisions.  I remember reading McGovern's statement when the scientist said there was a need to do more studies to make a decision and he said that "we are not scientist, we are politicians and we need to make a decision now" and they did.  Regardless if it was right or not.

Whenever my GP and I have a conversation about LCHF, neither of us mentions the last two letters - HF.  I know my doctor likes LCHF, but she is not officially free to speak of fat, except to give me the same old sermon the medical community approves of giving.  My doctor sometimes will speak to me "off the record" and tell me "feel free to enjoy butter and eggs and other things 'our' ancestors enjoyed."  I feel lucky to have a doctor that at least can see the benefit of watching one's carbohydrate intake.

My Oncologist is full on board with LCHF, actually practices it himself. However, my pcp treads really lightly around it though he knows it contributes to my bg control.
